sokin's devotional 57 - return to the cross

"Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider Him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart."
Hebrews 13:2-3

---

Always return to the cross, where love and mercy are found.

Fix your eyes on Jesus, who is the giver of faith and the perfecter of faith.

Look at the cross and see that He died for the  joy set before Him. It gave Jesus joy, knowing that His redemptive work would return you back into the fold. It wasn't easy for Him, surely, but He rejected the shame of the cross because He was glad to die in full submission to the will of the Father and the glory of His name, for the redemptive purposes for you.

Look at Him, who went through such a death at the hands of his own fallen creation, and realize that you are loved immeasurably more than you will ever know.

Lean on Him, learn from Him. Gain deeper knowledge in your relationship with God through His Word, which will build your confidence and allow you to stand your ground in great contests of faith and opposition.

Looking to Jesus will give you the strength to not grow weary and lose heart - rather it will give you the ability to endure.

Return to the cross always. Remind yourself of what happened there, who you are, and who He is.

Read His Word, love His Word, establish your confidence in Christ, and walk in faith.

Persevere.
