sokin's devotional 37 - Jesus, our Sovereign, Almighty intercessor.
"Simon, Simon, satan has asked to sift you as wheat. But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers."
Luke 22:31
---
1. satan is under the divine authority of God. satan is not a stand-alone figure who has powers that can threaten the kingdom of God. he is not a formidable opponent, but rather an already defeated one. Even satan, has to ask to shake the believer's heart before God. God ordains all things and satan is included in that. The enemy does not move in a way that God is unaware - He is aware at all times, all moments, and is in complete and utter control over all things.
2. Jesus is our greatest intercessor. He stood between us and God, and by His wounds we were healed. His blood was the evidence of the price that was paid for our sins. He stands before us and God and is our great advocate whereby we are protected from the consequences of sin as well as protected from and saved from the clutches the evil one.
3. We will fall away and fail many times. But by the grace of God, we must fix our gaze upon Jesus, and having turned back, we must strengthen the body of Christ around us. We must encourage one another to fight the good fight of faith and help one another so that when the enemy comes to shake our lives and our circumstances, that we would remind and encourage one another that our Great High Priest, who intercedes for us, will not allow us to be sifted like wheat, but rather we can stand confidently in the shadow of His grace and mercy.
