"But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed."
Luke 5:16

-----------------------

The key word I focus on in this verse is the word, 'often.' How often do we like to pray before our God? How often do we seek Him?

As Jesus' ministry grew, surely, His schedule became more and more packed and hectic. People came in droves to see and hear His teaching and receive His healing touch. This probably was to a higher degree than the "healing ministries" we see here and there in our day. Jesus was really healing people. Dead people were coming alive. This, for sure, caused Jesus to be a well sought out teacher.

But, instead of limiting His time with His father, Jesus often went to pray. And not only that, He went to the lonely places to seek Him.

In a day and age where we are bombarded by so many different mediums of communication, it is progressively difficult to find a solitary place. Where we can really "be still and know that He is God."

Friends, let us seek the Lord all the more..let us often go to the lonely places to hear the Lord speak into our lives. To clear the clutter of our minds and to direct our next steps.

Jesus knew the importance of this practice and lived it out. Let us do the same.
