12 - not to us.

"A man cannot redeem himself— redemption is the work of God, and is absolutely finished and complete. And its application to individual people is a matter of their own individual action or response to it. A distinction must always be made between the revealed truth of redemption and the actual conscious experience of salvation in a person’s life."

ive been reminded again and again that everything in the Christian life is utterly, completely, without exception, contingent on what He did and not what we do.

not i. but Him.

it stems to small groups as well. no matter how much i yearn for my freshman small group - or even seniors for that matter - to become the most holy and God-loving/fearing guys ever...ive recognized that theres only so much i can do to persuade them.

eventually, its the work of God in their lives and the power of the Holy Spirit that they will be transformed.

i think this realization should be freeing but many times, the realization is lost. im so easy to forget that i need not worry about the little things in life. its too much of a common occurrence that i rely on my own actions and my own mindset before focusing on Jesus and the work of God in my life.

psalm 115:1
not to us, O Lord, not to us
but to Your name be the glory,
because of Your love and faithfulness

on a lighter note, i realized that this blog is quite...well...um, BLOGGY. like its so heavy and serious (not that being serious is a bad thing) but after reading my old xanga entries, i realized that ive become quite melancholy over the years. i guess its what you call, age.
but nonetheless, im gonna try posting up some more...."less-serious" things in the future.

but if anyone is interested, i twitter and also have a tumblr that is more of my day-to-day thoughts and stuff.

okay. i am talking too much. good bye.
