The Lord will provide
8 Abraham said, “God will provide for himself the lamb for a burnt offering, my son.” So they went both of them together.
14 So Abraham called the name of that place, “The Lord will provide”; as it is said to this day, “On the mount of the Lord it shall be provided.”
Genesis 22:8, 14

The Lord will provide - Jehovah Jireh.
The testing of Abraham here proves to be a tough story for many to hear. It seems like a cruel God is toying with Abraham and dangling his own son in front of him.
But what Abraham does here is he chooses to obey, which is noted in scripture as his act of worship.
Abraham knew that God was a God of provision. He was a God that provided all things for his people.
As Abraham carried his son to the altar of sacrifice, he knew that God would provide. As he lifted the knife up to kill his son, Abraham knew God would provide. Somehow, someway, Abraham knew that God would bear his name of Jehovah Jireh and provide a means for him.
And God did.
God is a God of provision. He gives not only because He can, but He gives out of a longing in His heart to be a God whom His children can lean on, trust in, and know that all provision will come from His hands.

Then Abraham said to his young men, "Stay here with the donkey; I and the boy will go over there and worship and come again to you." Genesis 22:5How was Abraham able to obey in this way though? I think it's in the verses above.
