....hear that?

after being convicted of taking a day of silence from pastor peter ahn from vision conference 2011, i decided to finally take one yesterday.

listening to some advice, i decided to head to the beach.

from my journey that day i realized a couple of things:

1. my life is too cluttered with noise - i thought i could be able to take the day off but i realized how much of my life is spent with THINGS going on in the background. not having a phone to check, or people to talk to really made the day go considerably slower, but at the same time, it was refreshing.
2. silence can be deafening - having little to no audible inputs being poured in, i realized how loud silence can become.
3. i MUST NOT be mastered by technoology - i realized how much, and incresainly so over the years, my life revolves around technology - namely, the computer. just today, the iphone 4 came out to verizon and people are going gaga crazy over it. not saying that technology is a bad thing - i fully believe and testify that we have freedom to enjoy technology and God's redemptive purpsoes of it (ie-pastors on twitter, blogs, etc) for the glory of God and the joy of his people. seeing the fuss over the iphone coming to verizon, i wondered, "in what areas of my life do i value created things over the Creator?"
4. this is worth doing once a month - i think purposely taking a day to just sit in silence and meditate is a good thing. i may change it up next time around - taking a day in complete silence - or maybe doing a prayer hike/walk. nonetheless, it is extrmemely worth it and i enocurage anyone out there to try it for themselves.

God gave me a BEAUTIFUL, SO SPECTACULAR sunset at the end. i got to even see the whole thing go down. it was great. me and God. Him and me.

"the LORD is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks Him; it is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the LORD. it is good for a man to bear the yoke while he is young. let him sit alone in silence, for the LORD has laid it on him."
lamentation 3:24-28

"be still, and know that i am God; i will be exalted among the nations, i will be exalted in the earth."
psalm 46:10

hey you, reader, try it!
