7. may God help me. Amen.

you probably noticed that little quote on the top of my blog.

if you did a little spelunkering, you probably found out it is german.

if you did a little more snooping, you found out it was said by martin luther.

in the diet of worms, luther stood before a council. they spread out a bunch of his works and they asked him whether the works were his, and if he stood by them.

after some time of consultation and prayer, he said in essence - that he could not retract these statements because he felt convinced otherwise, by the Holy Spirit and the Bible that his words, were in fact, truest in its intent, and inspired from the Bible.

he then said at the end his speech, those famous words,

"Hier stehe ich. Ich kann nicht anders. Gott helfe mir. Amen."

"Here I stand. I can do no other. God help me. Amen."

when things go awry, or people are highly skeptical of what i am doing as a staff worker.
when ministry on campus is stagnant, and the enemy is deceiving my heart and discouraging me.
when the culture of the day seeks to destroy and pervert the messages and inerrancy of the Bible.
when non-believers scorn you.
when spiritual battles get tough.

i simply have to look to the God who has called me, who has given me new life, and simply stand before it all and persevere.

May God help me. Amen.

off to Mongolia!
